Outdoor House League Program Descriptions

U4 Player and Parent Mixed Program

This program is for children who turn 4 years old in 2019. This is a combined boys and girls program where adults and children play together informally. A parent/guardian must be available for each night.  Each respective session will run for 45 minutes in length.  (Nights, locations, and times are subject to change). Each child will be given a uniform kit (jersey, shorts & socks) at the beginning of the season and will be encouraged to meet new friends each week within different groups. Outdoor soccer cleats and shin guards to be purchased by parents prior to the start of the season.

Based on fun activity stations manned by coaches that players will rotate through, our objective with this program is to:

  • Provide fun, safe, and enjoyable activities
  • Provide stimulating activities that promote fundamental skills and movement
  • To get the players moving and active, while experiencing the basics of soccer: running, dribbling, kicking, and shooting

Role of Parents during Practice:

  • Play with your child at the activity stations; have fun with them
  • Support the coach with praise and encouragement
  • Challenge the player, but also allow the child to "score" goals and "beat" the adult opponent

King United Soccer Club is committed to the Long Term Player Development concepts outlined by the Ontario Soccer Association in conjunction with the York Region Soccer Association. For more information on the Active Start concept for this age group, please refer to Active Start Concept.

Coaches are needed!

KUSC is looking for volunteers to help coach and manage the activity stations. For anyone interested and willing to take the Active Start Course (4-hour course), and Making Head Way (e-learning course at no charge); KUSC will reimburse course fees only.  U5 Player and Parent Mixed Program

This program is for children who turn 5 years old in 2019.  The U5 season will consist of fun, activity-based stations where parent involvement is not only encouraged, but highly recommended.  The last 2 sessions of the season will see the coaches introduce the formal game concept which will consist of 20 minutes of 3-on-3 "games" that the players will experience in the under 6 age groups.  (Nights, locations and times are subject to change).  Each child will be given a uniform kit (jersey, shorts & socks) at the beginning of the season and will be encouraged to meet new friends each week within different groups. Outdoor soccer cleats and shin guards to be purchased by parents prior to the start of the season.

Fun activity stations will be managed by coaches that players will rotate through. Our objective with this program is to:

  • Provide fun, safe and enjoyable activities
  • Provide stimulating activities that promote fundamental skills and movement

Role of Parents during Practice:

  • Play with your child at the activity stations; have fun with them
  • Support the coach with praise and encouragement
  • Challenge the player, however, allow the child to "score" goals and "beat" the adult opponent

 U6 Mixed Program

This program is for children who turn 6 years old in 2019. This is a combined boys and girls program.  The children will practice for 30 minutes and then play 3-on-3 soccer games for 25 minutes with a 5-minute break in between.  This program is divided up into the Schomberg or King City location (nights, locations, and times are subject to change).

The objective of this program is to build on the first stage of soccer development from the younger age groups (while still recognizing there are players participating for the first time in soccer), and to continue to develop physical literacy while recognizing that individual skill development is paramount. Outdoor soccer cleats and shin guards to be purchased by parents prior to the start of the season.

King United Soccer Club is committed to the Long Term Player Development concepts outlined by the Ontario Soccer Association in conjunction with the York Region Soccer Association. For more information on the FUNdamentals concept for this age group, please refer to Fundamentals Concepts.

Coaches are needed!

U8 is a 5-on-5 mini soccer program, while U10 is a 7-on-7 mini soccer program, both divided by gender and age.  This program is an intertown program with one practice per week designated in either King City or Schomberg (based on the location chosen at registration), and one game night per week (in either the King City or Schomberg area).  Nights, locations, and times are subject to change.

U8 King pre-Competitive Academy (KCA) Program (in addition to the U8 program)

Players registered in the U8 House League Program and turn 8 in 2019, can join the KCA for an additional $200.  Included in this fee is the KCA training kit which will be used as the game uniform in York Region soccer festivals/tournaments.  KCA will hold practice sessions on Saturday mornings from 9am - 10:30am at Eva L. Dennis Fields in King City.

Recreational Games. All KCA players must be registered in the recreational program. Why? Because players need games! A weekly game provides opportunities to try out new skills that they have learned during practice without the anxiety of failing. The development skills acquired in the recreational program will be leveraged and progressed for accelerated learning and emphasis on the fun factor.
